As early as the age of 9, Johnny has known where his passion lies: music. This passion can be traced back to when he heard an Elvis Presley record for the first time. He began imitating and pretending to sing and play the guitar to Elvis' songs after school. As Johnny got older, he took that passion a step further, teaching himself to actually play the guitar. By the time Johnny was in High School, this quickly turned into something more when he started writing and singing his own music. His musical influences came from all corners of music, including: Alabama, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Temptations, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

After graduating High School, Johnny took a trip with some friends to Florida. It was at an 'open mic night' in a club at Daytona Beach that he performed for the first time on stage. The cheering and feedback from a live audience inspired him to start up his own band as soon as he returned home. The band he started was called Poison Whiskey, and as the band's popularity grew over the years, so did the areas to which they traveled to play. The band has played countless shows up and down the East Coast, from Pennsylvania to Key West.

Through the years, music has always been a big part of Johnny's life, but the fire department has been as well.  Johnny's career with The Baltimore City Fire Department is what makes it possible to play music for so many years and at the same time support his family.  It was music that got him through some tough times in the fire department, and because of this, has never lost sight of his appreciation and respect for music and life.
