Alan grew up in New Jersey, and started playing guitar as a teenager. Taking lessons at the local music store and jamming with neighborhood friends contributed to developing his style. This style has been influenced by many different players and bands over the years. He remembers his first electric guitar, a Gibson SG, which was a gift from his father. Alan was in his first band while still in high school, and has enjoyed playing on stage from day one.
A few years later, he played full time, working on the New Jersey club circuit, from hotel lounges to the big Jersey shore bars. The need to make music has always been balanced with the need to earn an honest living (and not live with his parents!) so a full time career in the construction industry was started. By day, he worked as a project manager and estimator. By night, it was music. There were several very busy years of working full time, playing 6 to 10 shows per month, and recording original material.
It was Alan’s daytime career of managing construction projects that brought him to Baltimore in the mid 1990’s. Maryland quickly became home, and he is currently living and working in western Carroll County. Since coming south of the Mason Dixon line, he has played with the bands Partners In Crime, and most recently, Georgia Lea and Stone Cold Country. Mutual friends introduced him to Poison Whiskey, and the fit was natural.
Alan is an avid motorcyclist, and rides whenever he can. Currently, he rides a 2004 Harley Ultra-Classic, and tries to attend at least one rally every year. In 2005 he finally got to the big one: Sturgis. He has ridden to Daytona, Myrtle Beach, Laconia, and completed an Iron Butt, riding over 1000 miles in less than 24 hours.
